Connecting a Marantz amplifier

When the unit is connected in combination with a Marantz amplifier, the amplifier can be controlled from the unit. link

Some operations may not be possible on some Marantz amplifiers.

Use the remote connection cable provided with the unit to connect the REMOTE CONTROL IN terminal of the unit and the REMOTE CONTROL OUT terminal of the amplifier. link

Connect to the CD input terminal of the amplifier

Connect the analog audio output terminal (FIXED) of the unit to the CD input terminal of the amplifier. The volume of the amplifier can be adjusted by pressing the VOLUME Button_Plus Mz and Button_Minus Mz buttons on the remote control.

If you have an HDMI ARC connection between the unit and the TV, we recommend that you connect the amplifier to the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE) of the unit for comfortable volume adjustment. link

To adjust the volume of the amplifier with the remote control, set the operation mode of the volume adjustment button of the remote control to the amplifier operation mode (factory settings). link

To adjust the amplifier volume in the HEOS app, select “Line Out Level” in the settings menu to set the audio output terminal to “Fixed”. link

It may not be possible to control the volume with the TV remote control (HDMI control function) depending on the Marantz amplifier and TV connected to this unit.

Connect to the power amplifier input terminal of the amplifier

Connect the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE) of the unit to the power amplifier terminal of the amplifier. The volume of the audio signal output from the unit can be adjusted by pressing the VOLUME Button_Plus Mz and Button_Minus Mz buttons on the remote control.

If you have an HDMI ARC connection between the unit and the TV, the volume can be adjusted with the TV’s remote control.

This connection is recommended if you will always use a Marantz amplifier as the power amplifier.

To adjust the volume of the audio signal output from the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE) of the unit on the remote control, set the operation mode of the volume adjustment button on the remote control to the network CD player operation mode. link

To adjust the volume of the audio signal output from the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE) on the HEOS app or TV remote control, select “Line Out Level” in the settings menu to set the audio output terminal to “Variable”. link

A Marantz amplifier with a power amplifier input terminal is required.

Switch the connection for each input source of the unit

When the analog audio output terminal (FIXED) of the unit is connected to the CD input terminal of the amplifier and the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE) is connected to the power amplifier input terminal of the amplifier, the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE/FIXED) used for each input source of the unit can be set.

For example, the audio of the CD can be input to the CD input terminal of the amplifier, and the audio of the HDMI ARC can be input to the power amplifier input terminal of the amplifier.

When listening to CDs, the volume of the amplifier can be adjusted with the VOLUME Button_Plus Mz and Button_Minus Mz buttons on the remote control, and when watching TV via HDMI ARC, the volume of the audio signal output from the unit can be adjusted with the TV remote control.

In addition to the analog audio input terminal of the Marantz amplifier, we recommend this connection if you will use the power amplifier input terminal.

Select “Line Out Level” in the settings menu to set the audio output terminal to “Custom”. link

The input sources that can be set by selecting “Custom” in the settings menu are “HDMI”, “HEOS”, and “Bluetooth”. Other input sources are set to “Fixed”. link

If you have an HDMI ARC connection with the TV, it is recommended that you set the audio output terminal to “Variable” by selecting “Custom” - “HDMI” in the settings menu for comfortable volume adjustment. link

To adjust the volume of the audio signal output from the analog audio output terminal (VARIABLE) of the unit on the remote control, set the operation mode of the volume adjustment button on the remote control to the network CD player operation mode. link

A Marantz amplifier with a power amplifier input terminal is required.
